Florida industry export

Florida manufacturers database by product group and county

The export covers manufacturing companies registered in Florida, defined by NAICS 2022 (31-33). For scale: 53,240 businesses in Florida per the U.S. Census Bureau, County Business Patterns 2023 + Nonemployer Statistics 2024: 14,341 with employees in 2023 and 38,899 without employees in 2024; that is official statistics. Our Florida database is active, but per-industry record counts are still being compiled. Name the product group by NAICS code or in plain words (for example boat builders or metal fabricators) and the counties you cover.

What the industry covers in Florida

The industry covers NAICS sectors 31–33, Manufacturing: from food and beverage production through printing, chemicals, plastics and fabricated metal products to machinery, computer and electronic products, transportation equipment and medical devices.

Food manufacturing (NAICS 311) is presented together with farming in the separate industry Agriculture and Food. If you need food producers in a manufacturing selection, say so in your request.

A manufacturer is registered at its principal address, which can be a headquarters rather than the plant. A company headquartered in another state that operates a plant in Florida registers as a foreign entity and may show an out-of-state principal address.

NAICS distinguishes several hundred manufacturing industries at the six-digit level, and the usefulness of a selection depends on how reliably that code can be derived for a business. The corporate record itself carries no industry code.

Contact coverage: our expectation

Our expectation, which is an assumption and not a finding from data: We expect a main phone number and a general sales address to be the typical published contact details of a manufacturer. Purchasing and plant contacts are not planned to be collected. Per-industry contact counts are still being compiled; once measured, they will replace this note.

Example of a request

We are looking for fabricated metal and machinery manufacturers in Brevard, Volusia and Orange counties that publish a phone number, to offer them contract coating services. Distributors without production should not be included. Please state what you can deliver, the price and the as-of date of the data.

This is an example only, not a promise of a record count.

Official statistics

How many manufacturers are there in Florida?

By number of businesses, manufacturing is one of the smaller sectors in the Florida figures. County Business Patterns counts plants with paid employees, and Nonemployer Statistics adds manufacturers without paid employees, such as one-person workshops; the subsectors below are a selection. Each plant counts once, so a company with three plants appears three times in these statistics and once in a business list.

Counties with the most businesses (CBP + NES)

Sources: U.S. Census Bureau, County Business Patterns 2023; U.S. Census Bureau, Nonemployer Statistics 2024 (methodology). Each row adds establishments with paid employees (County Business Patterns 2023, NAICS 2017) and businesses without paid employees (Nonemployer Statistics 2024, NAICS 2022, which leaves out businesses with less than $1,000 in receipts except in construction). These are Census Bureau statistics, not counts from our dataset.

Licenses and registrations: why manufacturing is different

No general manufacturing license

We know of no general state license for manufacturing as such in Florida, so there is no single license record to match against. The corporate record at the Division of Corporations and the company website are the planned sources.

Drug, device and cosmetic manufacturers (DBPR)

One exception: a permit is required before operating as a prescription drug manufacturer or repackager, among other permit types listed in Fla. Stat. § 499.01; the responsible department under Chapter 499 is the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Food manufacturers (FDACS)

A food permit from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is required of any person or business that operates a food establishment (Fla. Stat. § 500.12). Food producers are listed under Agriculture and Food.

Federal registrations

Depending on the product, a producer may also be registered with a federal agency. Federal registrations are not among the planned sources of the Florida Business Database.

  • Product catalogs, certifications (such as ISO 9001) or machine lists

FAQ

Questions about Florida manufacturer data

That is the plan: by three- to six-digit NAICS code, for example 326 Plastics and Rubber Products Manufacturing or 334 Computer and Electronic Product Manufacturing. Where the code cannot be derived reliably, we will say so before quoting.

No. Employee counts and revenue are not part of the planned 15 columns, and the state corporate registry does not contain them.

We know of no official state directory of manufacturers. Official statistics come from the Census Bureau and are counts, not lists: see Florida businesses by county.

Because industry codes are often self-assigned or derived from a company description, and an importer or distributor of a product is easily mistaken for its producer. Say in your request that distributors without production should be excluded.

The size of the industry in Florida is 53,240 businesses in Florida per the U.S. Census Bureau, County Business Patterns 2023 + Nonemployer Statistics 2024: 14,341 with employees in 2023 and 38,899 without employees in 2024 (source); that is the official market scale, not a count of our delivered records. Our per-industry record count is still being compiled; contact us for the current count for Manufacturing. For orientation: Active business entities registered with the Florida Division of Corporations (corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and trusts) – 4,129,182 as of July 8, 2026 (Florida Department of State, Division of Corporations, Yearly Statistics). That figure covers all industries and counts registered entities whether or not they operate. The Census figures on this page give a sense of scale for Manufacturing.

Federal law does not require prior consent for commercial email to businesses, but every message must comply with the CAN-SPAM Act (FTC compliance guide); sales calls and texts are restricted more tightly by federal rules and by Fla. Stat. § 501.059. An export contains no consent. Our data is not screened against any do-not-call list, including the National Do Not Call Registry and the Florida Do Not Call list. How Fla. Stat. § 501.059(4) applies to business records that include phone numbers is a question for an attorney, and no Florida dataset with phone numbers will be released until that question is resolved. The compliance of a campaign is your responsibility. The rules are explained in Cold outreach rules in Florida; this is not legal advice.

From public sources: corporate filings of the Florida Division of Corporations (Sunbiz), the license and registration records named on this page and the companies' own websites (sources and methodology). The file is a UTF-8 CSV or, on request, XLSX or JSON; a sample with fictitious businesses shows the 15 columns.
